The bird watching or also called birding is an activity that has been made since the late 18th century by Gilbert White, Thomas Bewick, George Montagu and John Clare, the first people thatrecorded their work in this field.

In the practice, you can be close for study of the birds and observe the behavior in the wild, their many species in the Amazon forest, their local habitat and its feeding.

The perfect place in South America for birdwatching is the forest Amazon, because the Javarí River is home to over 500 species of birds, even a few species that generally are only north of the Amazon River. Several species of birds are difficult or impossible to see elsewhere in Brazil or Peru, making the area attractive for explorers, also.

The Javarí River has been visited relatively by some ornithologists, only in both recent years, has resulted in the discovery of new species of birds for science, but the results have still not been published officially until within 2 years.

The best seasons for visit the region at Amazon Heliconia is of June until September probably also October, when it is dry time and the water level has dropped significantly (the peack time is late August – September), drying the Várzea, the fertile flood plains along the river backs.

The success of activity depends of water levels, availability of fruiting and flowering trees, the migration’s birds, even unknowns factors until now.
